Due to the COVID-19 virus outbreak, we’ve made adjustments to the way our meals are presented. For more information, please contact us.
As Napoleon famously remarked, “An army can’t march on an empty stomach.” Here in the Galapagos, we have a minor variation of the saying: “Our guests can’t explore on an empty stomach” emphasizing the importance of food on a Galapagos cruise.
And for that reason, meals on a Galapagos cruise are a significant part of our travels! To truly appreciate the wonders and magic of the Galapagos, we need to devote almost every square inch of our time and effort there. While taking a stroll in the Galapagos National Park is a unique and relatively easy experience, the variety of new experiences and sensations we constantly bring in can often be psychologically draining.
From the variety of iconic BIG15 species in the Galapagos to the strange landscapes one will encounter (and the many activities one will engage in)…
It might frequently seem like we are astronauts on another planet when visiting the Galapagos. Energy is always at the forefront in the Galapagos, so fully appreciate and experience a novel and remarkable location.

And we’re prepared to provide a delectable remedy for that reality in the form of excellent culinary treats on the Santa Cruz II Galapagos Cruise. Because there will be so many excursions, we always provide our guests with enough “fuel” for the journey ahead of them every day. From delicious breakfasts to filling lunches to a fantastic evening dinner buffet, we promise that guests’ bellies will growl and stay full during their entire Galapagos excursion. Eating is essential to fully experiencing the Galapagos Islands while on a cruise!
Snack Time on a Galapagos Cruise: Discover the Delights!
After their morning and afternoon excursions, our visitors return to find light snacks and refreshments waiting for them. The bar offers complimentary appetizers, such as sushi and finger foods, in the early evening before dinner. At least one evening, we will feature an outdoor barbecue on our patio, weather permitting. Insider Secret Advice for Visitors: In the Expedition Lounge, cookie jars are stocked with, well, cookies!
Cuisine Aboard Expedition Vessels: Delightful Food on a Galapagos Cruise Await
First, we have a Gastronomic Director with Le Cordon Bleu certification who oversees all culinary operations on board our ships and at our land-based businesses. He is responsible for creating the evening and buffet menus, drawing inspiration from foreign and regional Ecuadorian cuisine. We provide meals on the Santa Cruz II that span every dietary group and are prepared with the freshest ingredients possible.
Please be aware that the products offered in the buffets below do not represent an exhaustive list of everything that Santa Cruz II has to offer. There are many selections available; however, bear in mind that we rotate them every day to avoid serving the same dishes repeatedly.
Breakfast Buffets
As soon as you roll out of your cozy bed in the early hours of the morning in the Galapagos, the hotel manager cordially asks every guest to join them downstairs for breakfast. Getting up here every morning will be pretty straightforward, especially when you think about what the Beagle Restaurant has in store for you.
Our breakfast buffets are loaded with wholesome goodness that includes every vital food category to start your day. Our breakfast buffet will satisfy you and break your fast in the most delightful way possible, from the exquisite protein group, which includes salmon carpaccio, bacon, sausages, and eggs, to your selection of carbohydrates, which provides hash browns, pancakes, waffles, French toasts, cereals, oats, and yogurt (to name a few!). We can’t think of a better way to start your day when you pair all of this with fresh fruits (some uniquely Ecuadorian), juices, and coffee!
Lunch Buffets
Nothing compares to returning to the cozy cabin of the Santa Cruz II after an action-packed morning spent seeing your chosen Galapagos visitor site, relaxing, and refueling for your next adventure later that day.

During this hour, we provide a wide range of options for our lunch buffets, starting with a fantastic selection of soups. Grains such as rice, pasta, potatoes, and bread are sources of carbohydrates. Proteins can be found in beans, quinoa, pork, fish, poultry, and cow’s milk. The Santa Cruz II also makes it a point to introduce our guests to traditional Ecuadorian dishes during this meal, at least on one day of our itinerary. These dishes include llapingachos (mashed potato patties), ceviche (a seafood cocktail made of shrimp, fish, and basil leaf, or sometimes even a combination of all of these), and tornado (oven-baked pork), among many more!
At this hour, the salad bar offers an abundance of condiments and incredibly fresh veggies. After finishing everything with a delectable dessert, you’ll be more than eager to explore the Galapagos Islands again!
Be Alert! Our servers will stop by to inquire about your dinner plans later that day while you’re eating. So, as you enjoy your lunch, please make sure to look over the supper menu placed on your table.
Vegetarian Options
The culinary crew and chef at Santa Cruz II take great care in catering to every dietary requirement a guest may have. Vegetarian selections, which include a variety of delectably prepared vegetables, non-meat proteins, and a fully stocked salad bar, are a constant feature of buffets and dinner menus. Visitors should inform us in advance of any unique dietary requirements.
