There is a whirlwind of rumors and supposed “insights” circulating when it comes to deciding whether to explore the Galapagos on an expedition vessel or a yacht. Indeed, in a place as mesmerizing as this, it can be challenging to filter through all the chatter to discern what’s good and better when planning a Galapagos trip correctly. But worry not, fellow explorers: we are here to debunk certain myths and persistent assumptions related to the size of Galapagos cruise ships.

Some say:

Due to a large number of people on a cruise ship, activities are limited.

We say:

The reality is quite the opposite! Medium to larger expedition cruise ships, like ours, can accommodate more passengers and, therefore, more Naturalist Guides. The increased number of Expedition Team results in a broader range of activities for our guests. It’s important to remember that exploring the Galapagos without a Naturalist Guide is not permitted, so having more guides allows for more activity options.

As a result, our guests can choose between snorkeling excursions or staying on the boat. Depending on the day and itinerary, guests can select up to four activities. These options include snorkeling, kayaking, taking a panga (dinghy) ride around visitor sites, or simply relaxing on the boat. That’s an abundance of choices!

Some say:

Many cruise ships don’t offer sea kayaking.

We say:

Certainly, kayaking is available on all our boats. It’s a crucial element of the three water-based activities offered on our cruises. It’s easier to illustrate Galapagos tours with this option, given that it enables guests to observe land animals (even some of the BIG15 iconic species!) along the shore while marveling at the fantastic marine life swimming just beneath them – all without getting wet!

Some say:

A larger Galapagos cruise ship size means the dining areas will be noisy.

We say:

An experience worth having is certainly one worth sharing. We can confidently say that any boat journey in the Galapagos will be filled with expressions of joy and wonder. But this doesn’t mean it will be noisy: after a day filled with exploring enchanting sites and discovering many new sights, guests will understandably feel tired and won’t necessarily want to raise their voices. Galapagos expedition cruises offer a more serene and intimate atmosphere.

The beauty of being in a room full of people is that you don’t always have to be the one speaking. Joy might even be found in the simple moments that allow you to relax, savor your meal, and listen to others’ stories, peacefully resonating with their experiences.

Forget about having spur-of-the-moment special culinary requests.

We ask:
